When to Order Hair Extensions Before Your Wedding

If you're picturing your wedding hair — long, full, the kind of length and body that photographs beautifully — there's a good chance extensions are how you get there. And the most common question we hear is the practical one: when do I need to order?

Knowing when to order hair extensions before your wedding isn't a single date — it's a series of moments you want to be ready for. Work backward from the day, and the timing takes care of itself.

When to order: the milestones that decide your timing

Your color match comes first. Before anything else, you want to know your shade is right — confirmed against your own hair, in natural light. Then your hair trial — with the extensions in. Most brides book a trial run with their stylist. The mistake is doing that trial without the extensions, then adding them on the day when there's no time to adjust. You want your extensions in hand for the trial, so what you see in the mirror that day is exactly what you'll see walking down the aisle.

Your engagement shoot, if you have one. If you're doing engagement photos, that's a chance to wear your extensions first — a real-world trial in front of a camera, and gorgeous photos with the hair you'll have on the wedding day.

The day itself. By now the shade is confirmed, the look is tested, and there are no surprises. The extensions are simply part of how you get ready.

The thread running through all of it: the earlier you start, the more room you have. At minimum, give yourself enough time to do a proper trial with the extensions before the day — rushing the color match or skipping the trial is where the stress comes from. The brides who order early are the ones who aren't thinking about their hair at all by the wedding morning.

It's not just your hair — it's the whole party

Here's the part most brides don't think about until they're looking at their inspiration photos.
